After the requirements spec and the acceptance list exist, a scope change in custom software is a separate change request. The request names the line it touches, who may approve it, and which spec version follows an approval or a rejection. Without that request, the scope stays on the current version.
Read this noteDefine the fields before document data capture: the name of each field, where it sits on a sample, who confirms it, and where a blank or an unreadable value goes. Leave the documents unsent until someone has agreed the list.
Choose whether to lease or buy a piece of equipment only after you write how long it will be used, when cash leaves, who keeps the asset at the end, and who maintains it. Leave the choice blank until those four are written.
Before workflow automation, write which steps may finish on their own, which steps must wait for a person, and how a stopped run returns to the path people already use. Mark payment, master data, and outbound messages as steps a person completes.
Connect equipment to a business system you already use by naming the asset identifier, the reading, and the work order field that system will store. When that field does not exist, the write has nowhere to go.

To track equipment, set the identifier for each item before you choose a barcode or an RFID tag. A barcode has to be presented to a scanner. GS1’s current RFID page describes a RAIN RFID read without line-of-sight contact.

Acceptance criteria for custom software name an outcome someone can observe, the person who owns it, and whether a demo or user acceptance will show it. The list comes before the demo, so the demo and the acceptance meeting follow one list.
RPA uses a software robot to repeat a written rule by mimicking what a person does on a screen. A workflow agent pauses between named systems, hands an exception to a person, and writes the result back.

An AI coding agent and autocomplete differ in this: autocomplete follows the line you are typing, while an agent takes a task you have written down and edits files on its own. You can reject autocomplete, or accept only part of it.

Predictive maintenance uses a machine’s condition data to decide which day to service or repair it, then hands that decision to a work order. A threshold can come before a model: when a measurement crosses a limit written in advance, open the order.
Choose an equipment rental management system by writing the rental as five records — the asset, the contract, the calendar, maintenance, and the return — and checking that the system can keep all five. A spreadsheet is still enough when those five stay aligned and only a few people edit them at once.
Setting permissions for an enterprise AI assistant means defining what each role may read and which actions it may propose, then placing people into those roles. The assistant inherits only the files that person can already open.
MCP is an open protocol an AI application uses to discover and call external tools and data in one way. An API remains the interface of one particular system.
Classify the incoming message, draft from approved material, and leave sending to a person. Price, delivery dates, refunds, and complaints stay with that person.
